RevSignal FAQ
Short answers about convoys, location sharing, privacy and group travel.
Basics
What is RevSignal?
RevSignal is a free, browser-based app for people on the move. It shows people nearby who choose to be visible, lets you organise meetups, and lets a group share live location through a temporary convoy link. It supports cars, motorbikes, bicycles, e-bikes, e-scooters and walking, and runs in any modern mobile or desktop browser without an app-store download.
Do I need to download an app?
No. RevSignal runs in any modern mobile or desktop browser. If you want it one tap away, add it to your home screen from your browser menu.
Is RevSignal free?
Yes. RevSignal is free to use, including convoys.
Which travel modes does RevSignal support?
Car, Motorbike, Bicycle, E-bike, E-scooter, Walking. You pick a mode when you go live, and the map can be filtered by mode.
Do I need an account?
Not to join a convoy: a nickname is enough. To save a profile, places and routes, or to join meetups, you sign in with a magic link sent to your email. There is no password.
Convoys
What is a RevSignal convoy?
A convoy is a temporary live-location room for a group travelling together. One person starts it and shares the link. Everyone who opens the link sees each other's live positions on one map. A convoy holds up to 50 people and expires 24 hours after its last activity.
How do I join a convoy?
Open the convoy link someone shared with you, or enter the 6-character convoy code on RevSignal. Type a nickname and you are in. No account or download needed.
How do I start a convoy?
Tap Start Convoy. RevSignal creates the room, copies the link, and offers a one-tap WhatsApp share. Send it to your group chat before you set off.
How do you keep multiple cars together on a road trip?
Agree the route and regroup stops before you leave, give one car the lead and one the tail (sweep), mark turns at junctions so nobody misses them, and share live location in a temporary group map so every driver can see who has fallen behind.
Privacy
Does RevSignal share my location automatically?
Guests never appear on the public map. Convoy members share their position only with that convoy. Signed-in users choose who sees them: Public, Private (friends only) or Secret Ride (only you, plus anyone you share a link or code with).
Can I hide my home location?
Yes. Switch on Home Safe Zone and set your home location. While you are within 500 m of it, RevSignal hides your live position from other people.
How long is convoy location kept?
A convoy room, including its members' positions, is deleted 24 hours after its last activity.
Riding & driving
How do motorcycle groups keep track of each other?
Most clubs use a ride leader and a tail rider, mark junctions with a drop-off (marker) system, and agree regroup points. A shared live map adds a view of where every rider is, so the leader can see a stopped bike without waiting for mirrors to empty.
How do I find people to ride or drive with?
Local clubs, bike cafes and cars-and-coffee meets are the most reliable starting points. On RevSignal you can also open the map to see people nearby who have chosen to be visible, and join public meetups.
Should I look at the map while driving or riding?
No. Mount your phone, set the convoy up before you move, and only check it when stopped or let a passenger navigate. Follow the law on phone use where you are.
