What Is RevSignal? Find People Nearby, Organise Meetups and Move Together
RevSignal is a free map-based web app for people who ride, drive, cycle or walk. This guide explains what it does, who it is for, how to get started and how your location is handled.
Short answer
RevSignal is a free web app that puts people, meetups and group trips on one map. You can see people nearby who choose to be visible, create or join meetups, organise your crew, and share live location with a group through a temporary convoy link, all in your browser with no app download.

What is RevSignal?
RevSignal is a free, browser-based app for people on the move. It brings three things together on one map:
- People nearby who have chosen to be visible, shown with how they travel.
- Meetups: a time and a place for an activity, which people can join.
- Group movement: crews you belong to, and temporary convoys that let a group share live location for a trip.
It runs in any modern phone or desktop browser. There is nothing to install.
Who is RevSignal for?
RevSignal is built for activities that happen in the real world, with other people, at a particular place:
- Motorcycle riders looking for people to ride with, or running a group ride.
- Cyclists and e-bike riders arranging a social ride.
- Walkers organising a group walk where people move at different speeds.
- Drivers and car clubs heading out on a group drive or to a car meet.
- Friends meeting up somewhere unfamiliar.
You choose how you travel. RevSignal supports six modes: car, motorbike, bicycle, e-bike, e-scooter and walking.
How does the map work?
The map is the centre of the app. When you open it you can:
- Filter what you see with quick filters: All, Friends, My Crew, Motorbike, Bicycle, Walking, Nearby and Meets.
- Tap a person to see their profile and travel mode.
- Tap a meetup to see when and where it is, who is going, and to join.
- Save places you like, such as a café or a viewpoint, to your own list.
How much you see depends on where you are. RevSignal does not invent activity: if nobody nearby has chosen to be visible, the map will be quiet. That is a good moment to create a meetup of your own.
Meetups: arranging a time and a place
A meetup on RevSignal has a title, date, time, location (search by address or postcode), short description, category (Coffee, Ride, Car meet, Bike meet, Casual meetup or Other) and an optional maximum number of people.
Useful details:
- Public or private. Public meetups appear for everyone on the map. Private meetups are visible only to people you invite or share the link with.
- Delayed exact location. You can keep the exact pin hidden until 1, 2 or 24 hours before the start. Until then, others see an approximate area and a hint you write, such as "Aberdeen city centre". The exact spot is shown only to the host and to people who have joined, once the reveal time passes.
- Attendance status. People who join can mark themselves as coming, on the way or arrived, so the host knows who to wait for.
- Photo album. Attendees can add photos to the meetup afterwards.
Creating or joining a meetup needs a quick sign-in by email link (no password).
Crews and friends
- Friends: add people you know and message them.
- Crews: create a named group for the people you regularly ride, drive or walk with. A crew can be public or protected by a password, and you can share an invite link. The My Crew filter then shows just your crew on the map.
Convoys: live location for a trip
A convoy is a temporary live-location room. One person taps Start Convoy and shares the link, for example in a WhatsApp group. Everyone who opens it types a nickname and appears on the same map. No account and no download are needed to join.
A convoy holds up to 50 people and is deleted 24 hours after its last activity. It is ideal for group drives, group rides and finding each other at an event. More on the convoy page.
What are the benefits?
- One place instead of several apps. A group chat is good for talking, but it cannot show where everyone is. A map can.
- Less "where are you?" During a convoy, everyone can see who is held at a light or has stopped.
- Safer meetups with strangers. Delayed location reveal lets hosts share a general area first and the exact spot only with people who have committed to come.
- Works for mixed groups. Riders, drivers, cyclists and walkers use the same tools.
How do I get started?
- Open the map. You can look around as a guest.
- Choose a filter that matches your activity, such as Motorbike or Meets.
- Join or create a meetup, or tap Start Convoy if you are heading out with a group right now.
- Sign in with your email when you want to save places, join meetups or create a crew.
How does RevSignal handle location privacy?
- Guests never appear on the public map.
- Convoy members share their position only with that convoy, and the room is deleted 24 hours after its last activity.
- Signed-in users choose who can see them when they go live: Public, Private (friends only) or Secret Ride (only you, plus anyone you share a link or code with).
- Home Safe Zone is optional. When it is on, your position is hidden while you are within 500 m of the home location you set.
Always meet new people in public places and tell someone where you are going. For more, read how to share your location temporarily and the FAQ.
